Frequently asked Questions
- When is my box arriving? - Your box will be with you two to three days after you place your order. You'll hear from our delivery partners DPD when the package has been collected from us. It will be delivered to you by 12pm the next day. We are monitoring every box throughout the process to ensure it arrives to you, and if there are any issues that we can see, we'll reach out to you.
- Who can you contact with any questions? - You can contact Herd's customer support email which is farm@herdmarket.com.
- DPD app - I'd strongly recommend downloading the DPD app if you haven't already. I live in a very rural part of Suffolk where deliveries had been an issue before. However, you can put in buckets of details such as an exact What3Words location, pictures of your safe drop offs, etc.
- Why is my fish and meat frozen? You can read a bit more about our decision here, or watch the video below for an overview.
- What if meat is slightly thawed? - Don't worry - we've designed the processes and packaging so that you can pop it straight back in the freezer without it impacting the quality of the produce at all.
- Can I keep the meat and fish in my fridge instead? Yes! As we blast freeze immediately after processing your meat and fish, you have 7 days shelf life on meat except chicken and mince which have 5 days. You'll also have 3 days on fish and shellfish. We also recommend putting your fruit and veg in the fridge, but that one's entirely up to you.
- What can I do with the packaging? On our journey to build a food chain that puts more resource into the planet than it takes out, we are constantly evolving our packaging solution - balancing the use of materials with the lowest impact that also ensure your produce arrives in the best possible condition. We will never be satisfied that the solution of the moment is the best it will be and will continue to invest until our packaging has a net-zero resource use in the chain. For now: Box - Cardboard - Recycling. Tape - Paper - Recycling. Paper Filler - Paper - Recycling. Ice Packs - LDPE Plastic - Recycling. Vac Packs - LDPE Plastic - Recycling. Puffin Liners Cover - LDPE Plastic - Recycling. Puffin Liner Wool - Natural Wool - Compost, Green Bin or General Waste. We've also found that Olio or local community gardens are really keen for the wool if you don't need it!
